MY FEELINGS are not puffed about with every attempt to move them. MY TEMPER would perhaps be called resentful. MY GOOD OPINION once lost is LOST FOREVER.

Jane felt that this man was a bit like her. For sure, he looked wealthy and distinguished. She was NONE of them, but she could tell that both of them struggled with such festivities and to manage to show their real nature. You could call them lonely, or simply distant. I must, it’s my job to share my knowledge. And I do think that reading is the best way of learning. Not the only one, but the best.

image

Indeed. Extensive knowledge on any subject must be extended through reading. It proves a worthy source of relaxation as well, I find. His shoulders, so stiff, as if held up by string all the hours of the day, seemed gradually to lower as he spoke – the topic was one with which he spoke at ease. He did love to read himself, though hardly ever found the time these days to do so. Might I inquire after your line of work, madam?

For an entertaining afternoon? Plenty of activities. and no one would imply more than two person, as much.A long walk. Staying in doors, reading or writing. Perhaps have a conversation with someone who enjoys the same individual activities as you do. Plenty of things. Situations as this one makes me feel out of place. I am not a guest, I just happen to work in this house.

Mr. Darcy was very aware of her station at once – one dressed as such could only be a servant in such a home ( even as it compared little to Pemberley ). Her speech, though intriguing to his ear, suggested, indeed, that she could be no less. His advance stumbled and he held his ground before her, looking all the while as out of place as she felt. Ah. Do you read very much?

Absolutely. though, that reply was unnecessary. Her clothes didn’t fit the situation ( way too plain, way too sober for a festivity ), and nor did her mood that was calm and far from the enthusiasm many ladies show in such situations. She was raised in poverty and with rectitude. Jane was a complete stranger to opulence and hedonism. I do not think that fun should be related to music, dances or even company.

image

Surprise was not easily noted on the gentleman’s face, for he was a very severe creature. Dark eyes fell between them after her declaration ( though, perhaps, this was too meek for such a strong simile ) and his lips pursed just a little in thought. What would you suggest, then, madam? Curious now, he stepped toward the woman. What a strange thing to happen upon another like-minded individual. None too often had he ever found someone so displeased by the goings-on of the ton. For fun, that is.

It was ODD to find people like her in that kind of parties. Jane always found herself marveled by how easily people could chat about nothing for hours. Drink and dance without feeling tired or light-headed. She would be unable. And for sure she would make her company uncomfortable by her long silences and the stillness of her body. But, after all, she was a governess, not a lady.

Perhaps this was the corner of the boring people of the party, for she heard a gentleman, not very far from her, complaining. She heard that and couldn’t help but answer.

‘ Not everybody seems to enjoy the same kind of fun.

image

Had he spoken aloud? From across the room, Darcy had a clear view of a blushing Jane Bennet. Bingley was laughing – no doubt at whatever it was he had said and Jane was…not. A frown pulled at Darcy’s brow. Miss Bennet hardly appeared invested. It was troubling, to the say the least.

Darcy turned toward the woman, his expression still dark. No. Not everybody, indeed. Do you… Do you share this opinion, then?

[ Silence. ]

@foreverlostopinion liked STARTER CALL.

image

Jane was not one for festivities. She was not gracious nor bubbly. She never danced, she never drank, and for sure, she had never been invited to a such event. Until today. Mr Rochester insisted that she HAD to be there. And there she was, eyeing the man with olive skin and wild hair from time to time, moving her hands over her lap, still in silence. Since she sat down there, an hour ago, she didn’t move or say a word.

image

Had he expected anything less than Bingley insisting ( forcing with that damned grin ) that he attend the party, he would have been a fool. Fortunately, he knew himself already to be one. It was of little consequence that he had argued, save for his disappointment when every argument was disregarded. Now, he clung to shadows as desperately as Bingley clung to Miss Jane Bennet’s side. His own eyes were making a vain attempt at not tracking Miss Elizabeth Bennet about the room. He really was a fool.

If I could be elsewhere, you would find me thus.

obscureplainandlittle-blog asked:
"having an eye for beauty isn’t the same thing as having a weakness ."

REAL OR NOT REAL?

image

    Have I offended you, madam?

Thick brows quirked skyward. He had quite the penchant for saying the wrong thing when he deigned to open his mouth ( which, mind you, was hardly ever often ). Mr. Darcy’s jaw tightened, the tic beneath his ear jumping as he worked his throat, his mouth. Yet again, he proved the need to remain silent as opposed to speaking.

I find that giving into frivolous tendencies often give cause for addiction.
